The families in the mentoring program started 2017 by hearing from speakers about the important role of both fathers and mothers in the family. Often these roles have been polluted by the challenges of daily life, we know this is true in the U.S., but it is especially true in the Guatemala City garbage dump community as there are so many influences affecting daily life.
One of the mentors observed one success of the program already is that the fathers are coming to the meetings and engaging in the topics. This is not typical in the community. As the fathers engage, we hope the families will grow closer to God and each other. We pray that God will tend the seeds planted here.
