As the holiday season wraps up, we hope you enjoyed time with your family. For many of us that means playing games and enjoying each other’s company away from the busyness and stress of everyday life. The families in the mentoring program live in the Guatemala City garbage dump community. Their lives are filled with busyness and stress. Often this drives the families apart rather than together. The mentors made it a primary goal of the program to teach new ways of relating as a family: play games, have fun, be positive and encouraging instead of negative, avoiding or going in different directions. We pray these positive experiences designed by the mentors touch each family in such a way that they actively choose the positive in their daily lives.
